Pakistanis will require a valid United Kingdom (UK) Visa before they enter the European country. Britain is not part of Schengen countries such as Switzerland which makes the visa process & requirements more strict.
Applications are required to be filled online and then applicant should visit the embassy for further processing of the application.
Currently no evisa is available for citizens of Pakistan despite the fact that UK is the most preferred European destination by Pakistanis.
How To Apply?
The procedure and method of visa application is explained on the official website of UK embassy. Follow these easy steps to apply for the visa:
1) Visit the online application portal
2) Select your language & country
3) Provide your email address & contact information
4) Select the type of visa
5) Provide your passport details
6) Provide details of your trip and stay
7) Make declaration
8) Pay the fees online
9) Submit & print the application form
10) Make an appointment for the embassy
11) Visit the embassy, provide biometric data
These are the simple steps which you will be required to follow no matter whether you are applying for a standard short term visa, business visa, student visa or tourist visa.
Document Requirement:
Document requirement will depend on the type of Visa for which you are applying for:
Standard Visa:
If you are applying for a short term visa either for visit, business meeting, to get medical treatment or attend family event then you will be required to attach the following documents:
- Passport with validity period exceeding your stay
- bank statements
- letter from your employer on company
- Computerized National identity Card (CNIC)
- Tickets Booking
- Hotel Booking or accommodation details
- Character Certificate
Other type of documents will require further documents such as if you apply for a student visa you will be required to submit letter from a UK College/University to confirm the admission. Similarly previous educational certificates will also be required.
A business visa will require confirmation from chamber of commerce, invitation from UK organization and letter from your company. For complete details of different documents check the list provided by British High Commission.
Visa fees:
The charges & cost for processing your application are:
- Standard Visa = £93
- Short-term study visa = £97 for 6 months, £186 for 11 months
- Transit Visa = £64
- Marriage Visitor visa = £93
The visa may take few weeks during processing, to avoid delay many people hire the services of professional travel agents especially for tourist and student visa. Permanent visa is only available for those who have temporary residence in UK.
Embassy Timing:
Applicants cannot visa the embassy or consulate without any appointment for submitting visa application or receiving their passport. The official time of UK High Commission in Islamabad is as follows:
Monday-Thursday: 8 AM to 4:15 PM
Fri: 8 AM- 1 PM
Consular Public Counter Timings:
Monday-Thursday: 8 PM-1 PM
Friday: 8 PM -12 PM
