Pakistan’s All Rounder and former captain Shoaib Malik said nonconformist all-rounder Shahid Afridi is the best person to change Misbah-ul-Haq as captain for next year’s World Cup. Malik said that if the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) would like to change the captain of the one-day team it has to do it at once. “I don’t know what the board has in mind but if they are thinking of changing the captaincy they ought to do it now as there is not more time left before the World Cup,” Malik said.
He also felt that if there was going to be a change in captaincy then Shahid Afridi would be the best option to replace Misbah-ul-Haq at the moment. “Afridi is an experience player and aggressive by nature and I think if the board make a decision to swap Misbah then Afridi is the great caption to lead Pakistan in the World Cup.
“Even if the PCB offers me the captaincy then I would only perform it after the World Cup 2015 and then attempt to brush up a new team. Since it is a fact that after the World Cup some of our senior players will vanish,” he said.
Players represent the people of Pakistan and those decisions should be taken that are in the benefits of the team and country,” Malik said more.
