Women Dignity Walk – Pakistani Way of Celebrating Women’s Day

Each year women celebrate 8th March as International Women’s Day demanding rights, gender equality and liberty. But in Pakistan, the day was celebrated with a different style when different women organizations & religious parties organized Dignity Walk & March.

These walks, marches and conferences were held in different major cities of Pakistan including Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar and Quetta.

The dignity walks were quite different from previous feminist Aurat March which received backlash for using vulgar posters, unethical slogans and unislamic demands.

Participants and speakers in dignity walk made numerous demands including better education and health facilities, along with defending and propagating the Islamic values.

This dignity march received appreciation from all segments of the society indicating that the criticism which Aurat March received was not due to patriarchy but rather it was due to their secular and liberal narrative which is alien to the society.
