Pakistan’s Captain Accepted His Collapse With The Bat

MisbahMisbah-ul-Haq, Pakistan’s captain accepted his collapse with the bat was a “big factor” in his team’s devastating tour of Sri Lanka. Pakistan was beaten 2-0 in the Tests and lost the three-match ODI series 2-1 last month. Misbah has held Pakistan’s easily broken batting order jointly since was selected captain in 2010, and was the world’s top scorer in ODIs last year with 1,373 runs. But in Sri Lanka, Misbah smashed out a total of just 67 runs over both Tests and the same in the three ODIs.

Misbah said that if he took pressure it would not solve the trouble, his part as a batsman was not there and it was a big factor. He said more that he should do more work on my basics and aim to return back in form soon because when he plays as a senior batsman in the team his role is very important. He said more that lack of match practice was the reason of defeat.  The tour was Pakistan’s first since the Asia Cup and World Twenty20 in February-March this year had also played a role in the defeats. The team lacked match practice that’s why they couldn’t tackle it.

Waqar Younis was newly appointed as a head coach, and Grant Flower, the batting coach, have come under the hot water since the losses but Misbah said it was too early to speak decision on them yet.

Misbah and Younis met Shaharyar Khan analyzes the defeats and plan for their next two series against Australia and New Zealand. Both series starts from October in the United Arab Emirates. Pakistan has a plan to embrace a training camp later this month to boost for the series against Australia which starts with a Twenty20 International in Dubai.
