We Paid The Price For Dropping Catches: Misbah Ul Haq

pak vs SrlGalle: Pakistan Cricket team captain Misbah Ul Haq has said that his team paid the price for dropping too many catches in the form of defeat against SriLanka in the first Test match of the series. He said that the Sri Lankans deserved to win the match and that Pakistan’s batting could have been a lot better in the second innings.

Misbah laid particular emphasis on Kumar Sangakarra’s dropped catch and said that was a crucial moment of the game. Sangakarra was dropped by Abdul Rehman off the bowling of Junaid Khan on the fourth day when he was on 102 runs and he went on to make 221. He said the wicket was good but the team batted poorly to get out on just 180.

On the other hand winning captain Angelo Matthews said that this match would go down as one of the finest in his career. He said that he was praying that it would not rain but in the end they made it to the target comfortably. He applauded the performances of Sangakarra and Herath in the match and called them great players.

Herath who won the man of the match for taking 6 wickets in the second innings, said that the Sri Lankans want to perform well and win the second test match to make the last test match of Mahela Jayawardene’s career memorable. He said this win was a git from the team to Mahela who is set to retie after the series.
