Quota To Be Eliminated From The Government Colleges Of Punjab

punjab collegesLahore: The Punjab government has recently decided to eliminate the quota system in the government colleges and universities in the province. This decision was taken by the government after getting positive results of eliminating the quota system in the Aitchison College in Lahore. The chief minister of Punjab, Mian Shehbaz Sharif has instructed the vice chancellors of the various universities to take the necessary steps to eliminate the quota system from their respective colleges and universities.

On the other hand, the governor of Punjab, Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar stated that under the instructions of the chief minister Mian Shehbaz Sharif, the government colleges and universities were taking steps to eliminate the quota system, but the government had not yet given any decision regarding the elimination of the quota system from the government schools as well.

Under the quota system, the vice chancellor of the government colleges and universities had the special authority in admissions of the children to their respective colleges and universities. The Aitchison College had taken up the initiative of eliminating the quota system from their institute. The result of eliminating the quota system had led to better results and hence the decision
