Pera Museum is Famous Location for Exhibitions in Istanbul

Pera museumPera Museum is located in the Pera District of Istanbul. The museum was founded in 2005 by the Suna and Inan Kirac foundation. The museum itself is present in ancient building which previously belonged to Hotel Bristol and was in service since 1893, The building was renovated and the interior was redesigned by famous architect who took special care of the essence of the design of the building in particular the façade outside the building.

The newly renovated building now hosts the Museum which also has number of temporary exhibitions over the year. It has numerous assembly of famous paintings like, orientalist paintings and different kinds of tiles and ceramics. Majority of the Orientalist painting collection are the art work by Ottoman or Turkish painters like Osman Hamdi Bey whose painting The Tortoise Trainer achieved much appreciation and popularity from public. There are more than ten thousand paintings and objects in The Anatolian Weights and Measures Collection, among them majority are measuring instruments.

Occasionally exhibitions are held with international museums. Many international artists are introduced to Turkish people through Pera museum. All of the functions held at museum are also supplemented with books, concerts, audio or video functions, and educational shows.
